Civic Garden Club-Jan 2016

Message from the President

Happy New Year!!!!! January is a very exciting month; being
the first month of the year, we start anew, and we are filled with
anticipation for what the New Year will bring.

January is also the coldest month of the year and unfortunately
gardening is not as pleasant as in warmer months. Our
deciduous trees have lost their leaves by now and our gardens
take on a new look. Our foundation plants take center stage
and let our imagination run wild with ideas of what we will
select to plant in the spring. Such fun! This is also a good
time to clean our garden equipment so it will be in good
shape in the spring.

Our Board is very optimistic about this year and has been busy
determining activities and setting dates for events and tours for
the spring and fall.. Some of them are: January 22 Planting
Party for the April 23 Plant Sale, Wine and Cheese Party, date
to be determined, tours of Filoli Gardens in April and John
Ward’s Garden in October. Volunteer to serve on committees
for these events and enjoy the time we have together as Club
Members.

We will be discussing these and other activities at our
January 15th meeting, so you don’t want to miss this meeting.
Stay warm, and I will see you at our January meeting.

Joyce
