Message from the President
As you know February is the shortest month of the year, but, not the least important. Two holidays are in this month, President’s Day celebrating birthdays for past presidents George Washington and Abraham Lincoln and Valentine’s Day. Call me a romantic, but, I love the poem I selected for this month found on page 2. I hope you enjoy it.
My husband and I recently returned from a Caribbean Cruise and were fortunate in being able to take tours of two tropical hillside gardens on the islands of St. Lucia and St. Kitts. I took pictures to share with you at both locations and you will find them on pages 3 and 4.
We had an excellent turnout of club members for our planting party held January 22, and planted vegetables, flowers and succulent dish gardens for our annual plant sale to be held on April 23.
We are having a good winter for plants with rain expected through the season. Some of the plants I thought I had lost during the drought are starting to turn green again, a good reason not to pull up some of your plants that have suffered through the summer and fall, but, wait until spring to see if they recover.
That’s it for this month. I hope to see you at our February 19th meeting.
