Message from the President
Mid-October brought a nice, much needed two-day rain spell to our area. It never ceases to amaze me how the flowers and shrubs respond immediately to the addition of rain water. The day after a good shower or rain all the flowers look great with their faces washed and the tree branches seem to spring back after being covered with dust from our long term drought. Let’s hope that this winter will bring the much needed rain to our area and snow in the mountains. Our outdoor planting season coming to a close. But, we can still plant bulbs. Do you have your spring flowering bulbs planted?
It is time to make plans for the Thanksgiving Holiday and share the day with family and friends. We have so much to be thankful for.
We have a wonderful selection of garden tours in the planning stages for this Club year. We hope to have all of the dates set by the end of this calendar year. Plan to attend the tours and be inspired by the creative gardens that we are planning to view.
We had an impressive turnout for our Wine and Cheese Tasting Fund Raiser and cleared $2278. Thank you Club Members for donating your time and energy to making this event a success. There was a nice selection of wine, appetizers and due to the generosity of donors, our raffle tables were overflowing with raffle prizes.
Plans are being made for our holiday party which will be held on December 16, 2016 at our lovely Casa de Flores. A catered holiday buffet meal is planned with Turkey and all the trimmings. Tickets are available for purchase for $20.00 and must be bought in advance to allow for the proper amount of meals being ordered. We will have the Czardas Gypsy Violinist playing again this year for your listening pleasure. Don’t forget to sign up.
I hope to see you at our November Meeting.
