MESSAGE FROM THE PRESIDENT
Greetings Members and HAPPY NEW YEAR
It’s that time again. We say good bye to 2017 and ring in 2018 with lots of hope and promise.
2017 was a good year for the Club. We are growing in number as ideas for community involvement and member development take hold.
In 2018 we expect our annual April plant sale to be bigger and better than ever, surpassing the $1000 we made last year. Members have been very supportive by contributing garden items they no longer need–plants, pots, and tools. So set your donation aside but if possible hold on to it until mid-April since our storage space is limited. If you are in a rush to get rid of your excess, let me know and I’ll make arrangements for pick-up.
Our educational program is in high gear with Joyce assembling a wide range of interesting and relevant programs scheduled each month at our members meeting. Check this newsletter for the list of programs between now and June. And, by the way, give Joyce a big thank you for preparing our newsletter each month. An awesome task.
Our financial picture is very bright after expensing a portion of our reserves to maintain and improve our Casa. Thanks to David for spending countless hours with financial duties and on property maintenance and with renters. Check this month’s newsletter for web site and email access to our rental program. Bear in mind that we would not be able to maintain our Casa without a steady flow of rental income. For an update on member use of the Casa, see the next page of the newsletter for details.
And, thanks to the other officers and directors for services performed–Nancy and Dolores for secretarial duties; Alice for coordinating membership; Olga and Barry for house duties and Edythe for keeping us on the straight and narrow.
And finally, it’s party time. On May 20 we have our annual wine and cheese party and on August 8, the Chamber of Commerce mixer.
So, here is 2018. Let’s make it a great year.
