Manzanita plants for sale

Plant Sale and GIVEAWAY: October 25, 10am – 1pm

We will have a sale on Saturday, October 25, 10am to 1pm. We will also be giving away plants! Thanks to the City Centennial Community Grant program, we received 100 plants to give away in honor of San Carlos’ 100 years. Most of the plants were given away at last Saturday’s celebration, but we still have some left and we will give them away (1 per person) until they are gone. We have Howard McMinn Manzanita, Julia Phelps Ceanothus, Blue Elderberry and Little Ollie Dwarf Olive, all in 1-gallon pots.

Now that the weather is cooling off and fall rains are expected, it’s the best time to plant many varieties, especially California native plants. We have refreshed our stock by propagating and acquiring a nice collection of native plants, including some that are blooming now.

Please note: if it’s raining on Saturday, October 25, we will move the sale to the following Saturday, November 1, 10am-1pm.

We have a variety of perennials, shrubs and grasses for sun or shade including California fuchsia, sages, monkeyflower, yarrow, ceanothus, asters, buckwheat, soft rush, wallflower, native strawberries, island alum root, wax myrtle, golden-eyed grass, and more. We also have succulents, cymbidium orchids and other ornamental plants.

We are an all-volunteer, non-profit garden club celebrating our 88th year! Our plant sales help us maintain the historic Casa de Flores (built in 1929 as the original Saint Charles Church) and fulfill our club goals of “stimulating the knowledge and love of gardening” and “aiding in the protection of native trees, plants and birds.”

Location: Casa de Flores at 737 Walnut Street in San Carlos.
